- Currency
- The euro. Bank cards are accepted in most hotels, shops and restaurants, but small konobas, markets and parking on islands sometimes need cash.
- Sockets
- European sockets of types C and F, 230 V, 50 Hz. Phones and chargers from Kazakhstan work without an adapter.
- Emergency
- The single emergency number 112 works across the country. Save your accommodation address and the name of the nearest cove or village when heading to a park or an island.
- Time difference
- Croatia uses Central European Time with a summer change. The difference with Kazakhstan is 4 hours in winter and 3 hours in summer.
- Language
- The official language is Croatian. English is spoken in tourist areas, and in Istria Italian is often understood. Few people know Russian, so a translator is useful.
- Ferries
- Ferries and catamarans link the mainland and the islands. In July and August there are queues at ports, so arrive early and check timetables, especially in bad weather.
- Wi-Fi
- Hotels and cafes usually have Wi-Fi, but on islands and in countryside apartments speeds can be unstable. For banking apps and payments, use mobile data rather than open networks.
- Water
- Tap water in most towns is considered drinkable. On small islands and in rural areas, ask your hosts, and in summer carry water for hot walks.
- Entry
- Check current entry rules for citizens of Kazakhstan before the trip.
