- What the place is
- Guernsey is an island in the English Channel and a Crown Dependency that governs its own internal affairs. The main language is English, and for eSIMs the island may be listed separately in the plans, so check the plan page.
- Currency
- The local Guernsey pound, which is at par with the British pound sterling. British pounds are accepted, while Guernsey banknotes are best spent on the island, because in the United Kingdom they may not be taken.
- Sockets
- British type G sockets, 230 V, 50 Hz. Equipment from Kazakhstan will need an adapter.
- Emergency
- Emergency calls are accepted on 999 and 112. Save them, and the address of your accommodation, before heading onto the paths or to neighbouring islands.
- Time difference
- The island keeps British time: in winter it is five hours behind Kazakhstan, and in summer four, because the island moves to summer time and Kazakhstan does not.
- Driving and transport
- Traffic drives on the left, and roads and lanes are narrow. Buses run between the town and the beaches, and Herm and Sark have no ordinary cars. If you rent a car, ask about the rental terms in advance and save the company's contact in a messenger. On narrow roads with tall hedges drivers go slowly, so allow extra time for the journey and do not count on a tight schedule.
- Entry
- Check current entry rules for citizens of Kazakhstan before the trip.
