- Currency
- The Ghanaian cedi (GHS). Cards are used in large hotels, malls and restaurants in Accra, but cash is needed in markets, minibuses and villages. There are ATMs in the cities.
- Sockets
- Sockets of types D and G, 230 V, 50 Hz. Phones and chargers from Kazakhstan match the voltage, but the plugs differ, so bring an adapter.
- Emergency
- The single emergency number is 112. Save it and your accommodation address, and before going to the parks tell your host or guide your route and expected return time.
- Time difference
- Ghana is 5 hours behind Kazakhstan: when it is noon in Astana, it is 07:00 in Accra. The country does not switch to summer time, so the difference does not change.
- Language
- The official language is English, so it is easy to communicate in cities and hotels. Local languages such as Twi are also widely used in daily life. Very few people speak Russian.
- Transport
- In cities you will find taxis, ride-hailing apps and tro-tro minibuses, and between cities buses and transfers. Roads are often busy, especially in Accra, so allow extra time for journeys.
- Power and signal
- Power cuts sometimes happen, so bring a power bank and charge your phone when you can. Wi-Fi in hotels and cafes can be unstable, and mobile data is more reliable.
- Health
- Vaccinations, malaria prevention and protection from mosquitoes are best discussed with a doctor in advance. Many travellers prefer to drink only bottled water.
- Entry
- Check current entry rules for citizens of Kazakhstan before the trip.
